He was a leading figure in the French New Wave movement and is known for his films such as “The 400 Blows,” “Jules and Jim,” and “Day for Night.” Truffaut was born in 1932 in Paris and began his career as a film critic before transitioning to directing. He won numerous awards throughout his career, including the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival for “Day for Night.” Truffaut passed away in 1984 at the age of 52.
