    Bio:

    John Russell Taylor (1932-2018) was a British film critic and author. He was the film critic for The Times from 1968 to 1982, and wrote several books on film, including The Hollywood Picture Machine, The BFI Companion to the Western, and The Filmgoers’ Companion. He was also a regular contributor to Sight and Sound magazine. Taylor was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a member of the British Film Institute.
