Critics Consensus

Technically and visually dazzling..

Audience Consensus

Under the Sea 3D is like a virtual aquarium, but without the annoying kids tapping on the glass. The colors are so vibrant, it’s like the ocean is on steroids. And let’s be real, who needs CGI when you have Mother Nature showing off her special effects? Plus, you don’t have to worry about getting wet or eaten by a shark. Overall, it’s a great way to escape reality and dive into the beauty of the ocean.

The footage is spectacular, the colors electric, the life aquatic trippier than anything you’ll see in even the most wildly imaginative animated fare.

Strictly fodder for the preteen set, Under the Sea 3D, the latest IMAX deep-sea-dive exploration (brought to you by the fisheye’s point of view), is expectedly rudimentary but a splendor to watch.

It’s impossible not to be wowed by some of the images in Under the Sea 3D,
the coolest of which are a nice
reminder that, even in the age of CG wizardry, the best special effects still come straight from Mother Nature.

Under the Sea 3D is a beautiful reminder that movies can take us to places we’ve never been before. There are still worlds to conquer out there that don’t require the gussying up of CGI effects to hold our attention.

It’s hard to deny the entertainment value of seeing rare monstrosities jumping out of the screen and scurrying about at what feels like an arm’s length away.

The film offers one of the best and most organic uses of new, more advanced 3-D technology. Grown-ups and youngsters alike will try to knock away the banded sea snakes writhing toward them.
