Merian C. Cooper was an American aviator, United States Air Force and Polish Air Force officer, adventurer, screenwriter, film director, and producer. He is best known as the co-inventor of the iconic 1933 film King Kong. He was also a key figure in the development of the Hollywood motion picture industry, and was involved in many other films, including The Most Dangerous Game, The Four Feathers, and The Last Days of Pompeii. Cooper was also a decorated war hero, having served in both World War I and World War II. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service in the latter. Unknown.
