Cyd Charisse (1922-2008) was an American dancer and actress, best known for her roles in classic Hollywood musicals. She began her career as a ballet dancer, performing with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and the Ballet Theatre. She made her film debut in 1943 and went on to appear in films such as Singin’ in the Rain, The Band Wagon, and Silk Stockings. Charisse was known for her grace and beauty, and her memorable dance scenes with Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly.
